Handy Guide For Engineering Freshers

Handy guide for Engineering freshers So, it is that time of the year when engineering colleges across the county open their doors and accept a fresh batch of engineering hopefuls.

As someone who went through the rough and tumble and came out relatively unscathed, I believe it is binding on me to list out a few do’s and don’ts that will help you survive in your college.

That said, we at india.com would in no way be responsible for the consequences of you adhering or not adhering to the given list of instructions.
DO’S
- Make new friends. But don’t be too choosy because some or most of them won’t make it past the first year, so you will have to make new ones anyway.
- Find and earmark your adda. If that’s not the first place your friends go to when looking for you, you are doing engineering wrong.
- Be on good terms with the canteen and the Xerox-wala; these guys are going to be more indispensable than any of your best friends or professors during the duration of the course.
- Find out where the library is. That place is as good a place as any for a quick afternoon nap. Oh, yeah, I've heard they stock books too.
- Prepare yourself mentally and physically for a life of writing (read copying), writing and more writing. For what, you ask? Assignments - lots and lots of assignments.
Don’ts

- For the guys: Do not be too eager to impress the ladies. I say this because, sorry to break your hearts, there is not going to be any ladies for you to impress.
- Do not post anything demeaning about your college faculty or staff on any confession pages. THEY DO READ IT. And this could come back to haunt you quite spectacularly.
- Hostel-ites: Getting friendly with your seniors is not going to help. You are not getting past without doing sit-ups in your underwear.
- Do not use signatures that are too complicated. The benefits of adhering to this - can be reaped till the last day of your course.
- And also, try not to gatecrash your professor’s daughter’s wedding for a free meal. Usually it doesn’t quite work out that well in the end.
