Kartikeya Sharma, a student of Excel Junior College, Telangana, secured the first rank in the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2015, which was conducted by the VIT University, Vellore, from April 8 to 19 in 112 cities in India, as well as in Dubai and Kuwait for admission to 14 B.Tech. programmes .
A total of 2,02,406 candidates had registered for the exam.
Releasing the results on Thursday, G. Viswanathan, VIT Chancellor said that the other nine rank-holders are: Archit Gupta of Delhi Public School (DPS), Gujarat (2nd rank), Sagar Goyal of DPS, Delhi (3rd rank), Abhishek Pathak of Birla High School, Uttarkhand (4th rank), Anup Agarwal of Amity International School, Delhi (5th rank), PSE Sai Prakash Reddy of Sri Chaitanya Narayana Junior College, Telangana (6th rank), Kapuganti Kaushik of Sri Chaitanya IIT Academy, Andhra Pradesh (7th rank), Simi Karan of DPS, Orissa (8th rank), Aman Singh of Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial Senior Secondary School, Uttar Pradesh (9th rank) and Arpan Banerjee of Apeejay School, Maharashtra (10th rank).
