Expert Column by Mr. Aakash Chaudhry:

Aakash-Chowdhry-Expert-CommentStudents today are very career oriented right from their scholastic years. Their anxiety to excel gets more intense when it is a competitive exam that could determine their future career path. One of the most difficult engineering entrance exams is JEE Main 2015 for which the students appear after intense preparation of two or more years in a highly competitive environment.

Examination authorities have introduced a lot of reforms in the past few years like introduction of the online mode of examination in addition to the traditional mode and standardization of examination to a two-tier structure (JEE Main & JEE Advanced) for the admissions. It has changed the way students approach exams today.

About JEE Main Online Exam Mode

After the online mode was introduced for AIEEE, in a few metro cities, the responses received from the students were mixed. This decision initially was not accepted very positively because of fear of the unknown and familiarity with pen & paper mode of examination only. But now, the scenario is changing. The number of students appearing for online exams has increased considerably and is expected to grow further.

Students opting for online exams need to sign in on an assessment program or web link by entering their username and password. Then they choose the course that will be tested and can start answering the questions that are shown on the screen. After they have finished the examination, the students taking the exam need to click on a certain button, like SUBMIT, that would mark the completion of examination process.

10 Reasons for opting JEE Main 2015 Online Exam Mode

Following are the 10 reasons why JEE Main 2015 aspirants shall choose JEE Main 2015 online mode.

Reason 1:When you are attempting JEE Main 2015 Online Exam, you can see on the screen the Questions Answered, Questions Unanswered and Questions Marked for review. These are in different colour schemes so that you can work quickly as it doesn’t require searching for the unanswered questions or questions for review by turning pages and looking for each question.

Reason 2: The fees for the online exams are lower than the offline mode.

Reason 3: As the exam is based on computer system, sudden technical snags are considered and buffers are available. The computers record the lost time, which is duly compensated.

Reason 4: It is a time-saving process and takes a simple click to answer questions.

Reason 5: Rough sheets are also available separately for rough work.

Reason 6: The authorities are making amendments to drive a greater number of students to switch to online mode, which makes the exam more transparent and helps cut down on time & money required to conduct the examination.

Reason 7: There is a fixed duration for the instruction page to be displayed and this does not form a part of the examination time.

Reason 8: There is no question booklet provided but it is e-mailed to the student at the end of the exam.

Reason 9: JEE Main 2015 Application Form has to be filled and submitted online. There is no provision to submit this in offline mode to a centre. This step would inculcate the use of internet in students in smaller towns and rural areas.

Reason 10: Online mode of exam has environmental benefits such as reduced usage of paper.

Taking online mock tests before going for the final exam is necessary as it will help the students to become familiar with the online system and will give a practical idea of  dos and don’ts. Also, it will ensure better preparation.
