NIT Jamshedpur placement 2014: 431 out of 600 students recieve attractive offers

amshedpur : It’s once again job bounty for Adityapur NITians, several of them have impressed top-notch firms. The class of 2015 has 600-plus students studying in various disciplines of BTech and MTech, besides MCA. About 431 students have received attracted offers.
The job season for final-year students had kicked off on a buoyant note in July-end. IBM took off 47 students — 12 from BTech electrical, nine from metallurgy, five each from computer science and electronics, four each from civil and mechanical and two from production, besides one from MTech and five from MCA. The company has offered an annual package of Rs 3.15 lakh to BTech students and Rs 3.47 lakh to the M.Tech student. Last year, IBM had recruited 34 students from the tech cradle.


Automobile major Tata Motors has locked 13 candidates. Five students are from metallurgy and four each are from mechanical and production. The per annum pay is Rs 6.16 lakh. Last year, Tata Motors, which was then grappling with market slump, had recruited only six students.
The week that went by also saw headhunters like Reliance Jio. The telecom company hired 10 students — nine from electronics and one from computer science — for an annual salary of Rs 5 lakh each, including perks and other emoluments. Sapient Nitro handpicked seven (three each from computer science and electronics, one from electrical) offering each Rs 4.5 lakh per annum. IT major Wipro recruited six (five from electrical and one from electronics) offering each Rs 3.3 lakh per annum.
Officials of the training and placement cell of the tech cradle informed that so far around 80 companies have participated in the campus recruitment process. Some of the other companies which recruited students

The quality of teaching at the institute has improved which has led to so many companies coming in for the placement sessions in the past few year.” Many more companies are lined up for the placement session but the NIT authorities have refused to divulge their names.
Notably, NIT (erstwhile Regional Institute of Technology) is one of the eight regional engineering institutes established in the country in the year 1960. The Institute was fully taken over by the Central Government on 1st April, 2003 and renamed National Institute of Technology.
